What it is for

Before you order, settle three things: who runs the relay (BrowserDesk or you), how you are billed (per device or per technician) and which add-ons you need. This page walks you through six questions and ends with the right order. Amounts are only shown in the price calculator at browserdesk.de/en/preise — it calculates with your numbers.

What you need

  • A rough number: how many devices do you want to look after, and how many people work with them at the same time?
  • For your own relay: a server (Docker, Windows or Linux) and the answer to "does it have internet access?".
  • For paid plans: a business, public authority or association — orders need the tick I am ordering for a business, public authority or association.

How to do it

  1. For whom? Private use or testing, a few devices → Free. For a business, public authority or association → continue with 2.
  2. Where should the relay run? - At BrowserDesk → Cloud via browserdesk.de. You only install the program on your devices. - On your own server → Your own relay. The data stays in-house; in return you run the server yourself (installation, domain, updates, backup — see Install your own relay).
  3. Does your relay have internet access? (own relay only) The calculator asks Does your relay have internet access?: - Yes: the licence confirms itself with browserdesk.de every 30 days, with 14 days of grace. You do nothing. - No, isolated network: you renew the licence once a year with a request code — the relay itself needs no internet for that. The first installation works the same way (A5).
  4. Per device or per technician? You do not have to choose: the calculator works out both billing methods for your numbers and automatically takes the cheaper one. - Per device: you pay for every device you look after, technicians unlimited. If more devices are registered than purchased, the ones registered first stay reachable. - Per technician: you pay for every person working at the same time, devices unlimited. Pays off when a few people look after many devices.
  5. Which add-ons? (cloud and own relay only, see table below)
  6. Term and payment: cloud always 12 months; own relay 1 year, 2 years or 3 years at the same yearly price (price lock). Payment is in advance, Pay online via Stripe or On invoice. There is no automatic renewal.

What "concurrent technician" means

  • A technician is any person who is currently controlling at least one device with BrowserDesk. Whoever is not connected does not count: ten colleagues of whom at most three work at once need three technicians.
  • Counting happens when a session starts. A running session is never cut off because the number is reached — the next one waits until one ends.
  • Signed in (user account, or a computer that has joined your access or relay), a person counts as one technician, even with up to three sessions at once and, on your own relay, up to nine views in the control room.
  • Not signed in, every session counts as a technician of its own, in the control room every tile.
  • Spontaneous support: per device, every device you help takes a seat until you remove it. Per technician, devices do not count.

Start center and remote console are bought for a number of devices: a device takes its seat on first use, and the seat stays with that device.

How you know it worked

You know the model, billing, add-ons and payment method — and the link in the table takes you straight to the right step of the calculator. Under How many devices and technicians? it shows which billing is cheaper for you.

Good to know

What Free can — and cannot — do:

  • Your own access at browserdesk.de, free of charge and without a time limit, for private use or testing only.
  • 3 devices as seats. A device keeps its seat until you release it in the management console. So that nobody swaps seats in rotation, there is a swap brake: at most three releases in 30 days.
  • One session at a time, each confirmed on the device — Free has no access without confirmation.
  • Random name: we assign the name of the access at random (for example fuchs-48213), so that nobody can pose as a company or a person with a free address.
  • Free devices can only be controlled from devices signed in to your access.
  • Not in Free: control room, inventory, recording, ticket system, start center, remote console, USB redirection.

More:

  • The cloud has no extended inventory; it is only available with your own relay.
  • If a promotion is running, the calculator shows it with its conditions. Promotions cannot be combined.
  • Your own relay only accepts a licence per technician from a certain version on; the calculator names it.
  • Without a licence, your own relay runs a 30-day trial with up to 5 devices, then permanently with 2 (A5).
  • More devices or technicians in the middle of the term: there is no separate flow for that yet — write to info@browserdesk.de. For a cloud access you can also use Choose cloud → Existing access (A7).

If it does not work

The relay's messages are in German; the English meaning is in brackets.

"Für diesen Zugang sind … Techniker gleichzeitig gebucht, und alle arbeiten gerade. …" (all booked technicians are working)The booked number is reached. As soon as a session ends you can continue; more technicians are available at browserdesk.de.
