Buy and install a licence for your own relay

What it is for

You run your own relay. To go beyond the trial, it needs a licence file from browserdesk.de. You buy it in the price calculator, receive it by e-mail and install it in your relay's console. In doing so, the licence binds itself once to your installation — automatically with internet, with a request code without internet.

What you need

• An installed relay (B2) and a console account with the role system administrator.
• A business, public authority or association as the buyer.
• The answer to: does the relay have internet access?

How to do it

Buy

1. Open browserdesk.de/en/preise/?modell=relay — or, in your relay's console under Licenses, the button Buy a licence.
2. Enter How many devices do you look after? and How many technicians work at the same time?; the calculator takes the cheaper billing method.
3. Choose the Term: 1 year, 2 years or 3 years, always at the same yearly price.
4. If you like: Extended inventory, Control room, Ticket system and the add-on modules Start center and Remote console.
5. Answer Does your relay have internet access? with Yes or No, isolated network. This decides how the licence confirms itself later (see "Good to know").
6. Continue to your details, fill in your details and pay — online as in A3 from step 6, or on invoice as in A4.
7. The licence file arrives in a separate e-mail "Your BrowserDesk relay licence" — online right after payment, on invoice once your payment has arrived. Save the attachment browserdesk-relay.lic.

Install with internet

1. Open your relay's console → Licenses → Install licence.
2. Step File: choose the licence file, Next. It is only checked at first.
3. Step Check: look at licensee, devices or technicians, term and functions. If everything is right: Next.
4. Step Connection: leave Activate online selected and click Install licence. The relay briefly contacts the licensing authority.
5. The assistant shows "Licence active until …".

Install without internet

1. As above up to step Connection; there choose This relay has no internet access and click Install licence. The licence is now pending.
2. Step Without internet: the request code is in the field. Send by e-mail opens an e-mail to info@browserdesk.de with the code and the licence number — or use Copy request code and send it from another computer.
3. The reply contains an activation code. Paste it into the activation code field and click Enable.
4. If you have closed the assistant in the meantime: below the licence status there is a note with Continue activation — it takes you straight to this step.

How you know it worked

• The assistant ends with "Licence active until …" (or Licence active).
• Under Licenses the operating mode reads "Licensed", together with licensee, devices or technicians, "Valid until" and "✓ bound to this installation".

Good to know

• Trial without a licence: a new relay runs for 30 days with up to 5 devices. After that, without a licence, 2 devices remain permanently — the ones registered first, for private use only; business use needs a licence after the trial. The console shows this as Trial mode (no licence) with the end date.
• With internet the licence confirms itself with browserdesk.de every 30 days, with 14 days of grace. Without internet you renew it once a year with a request code. The line Licence check shows when it is due and when the block starts; Check now confirms immediately.
• One installation per licence. After installation the relay keeps running without internet. When moving to another server, the activation must be released at browserdesk.de (B8).
• After expiry the relay keeps running for the grace period stated in the licence (line "Grace period"). After that, operation stops until a valid licence is installed (A7).
• Try functions: under Functions of the licence every additional function can be tried once per installation with Try for 10 days; Buy more leads to the price calculator (A6).
• A licence per technician is only accepted by a relay from a certain version on — the calculator and the licence e-mail name it. Update the relay first (B8).
• A pending licence changes nothing about the running operation until the activation code is installed. Pending by mistake: Discard pending licence.
