Know what happens on expiry or non-payment

What it is for

Your licence ends on a fixed day. If you do not renew in time, something changes — in the cloud differently from your own relay. This page says exactly what happens, so that you can renew in time (A7).

What you need

• The end date of your licence. It is in the licence e-mail and in the console.

How to do it

Cloud: what happens the day after the end

If the cloud licence ends and has not been renewed, Free applies to your access:

• Your data stays. Devices, users, settings, scripts and tickets are not deleted. Only the limits of Free apply.
• Only as many devices as in Free. The devices added first stay. Devices above that are disconnected within about 5 minutes. If a session is running on one of them, it may run to its end. That device does not accept a new one.
• Every session has to be confirmed at the device. No more unattended access.
• One session at a time.
• The cloud services are gone, for example scripts, Start Center, remote console, control room, tickets. What is stored stays stored.

If you renew afterwards, your cloud licence applies again. Bought seats of add-on modules are then back as well.

Own relay: what happens after the end

1. Grace period: after the end date everything keeps running. The console warns. How long is stated in your licence; if nothing is stated there, it is 5 days.
2. After the grace period nothing runs any more. The relay accepts no devices and no sessions. Running sessions are disconnected too — within about one minute. There is no fallback to a small free mode.
3. The console then says: "Die Relay-Lizenz ist am … abgelaufen, die Kulanz endete am …. Bis eine gültige Lizenz eingespielt ist, nimmt dieser Relay keine Geräte und keine Sitzungen mehr an." (The relay licence expired on …, the grace period ended on …. Until a valid licence is installed, this relay accepts no devices and no sessions.)
4. Install a new licence (A5) — then everything runs again.

Recurring check: some licences confirm themselves regularly with browserdesk.de — with internet automatically, without internet by request code. If this confirmation is missing for longer than the check interval plus grace period, the relay stops in the same way. The grace period for this is 14 days by default. The console then says how to run the check now.

Non-payment

• Payment is in advance. Online, payment is done before activation. On invoice we usually activate only once the money has arrived.
• What happens if an already activated order is not paid is not described as a separate process. If in doubt, ask info@browserdesk.de.

How you know it worked

There is nothing to do here. You can see the state:

• Cloud: in the console on the access (term, plan).
• Own relay: in the console under Licenses — with end date and grace period.

Good to know

• A reminder e-mail 30 and 7 days before is possible but not promised (A7).
• Free after expiry is not a cancellation: the access remains. Deletion: A11.
