End the session and understand why it ended

How to disconnect yourself — and what the messages mean when the session ends from the other side, through a time limit or the network.

What it is for

A session ends because you disconnect — or because something else happens: the person at the device disconnects, a time limit applies, the network drops, the device restarts. Here is how to disconnect cleanly yourself and what each message means.

What you need

A running session — with BrowserDesk on a computer, phone or tablet, or in the browser.

How to do it

Disconnect yourself:

Program: the red button Trennen (Disconnect) at the far right of the session bar. The session ends and you are back on the start page.
Browser: the red X in the bar ("Sitzung trennen" — disconnect session).
In the control room that spot shows Zurück zum Leitstand (Back to the control room, orange) — it only shrinks the view, the connection stays. In the control room you disconnect via the tile's menu (D8).

Reconnect: the device is listed under Zuletzt verwendet (Recently used) — one click is enough if the password is saved (D2).

How you know it worked

The session window is closed and the start page is shown.

What the other side sees

The small session window at the device disappears. If "Gerät nach der Sitzung sperren" (lock the device after the session) is switched on there, the device is locked 5 seconds later (E31).

Why a session ended — the messages:

You see	What happened	Reconnect?
Window Verbindung beendet (Connection ended): "Der Gesteuerte hat die Verbindung beendet." (the controlled side ended the connection)	The person at the device disconnected you (F1).	Only once they allow you again at the device or after 10 minutes without an attempt. Every attempt extends the wait.
"Die Sitzung wurde nach … Minuten ohne Eingabe beendet (Vorgabe des Geräts). Sie können neu verbinden." (ended after … minutes without input)	The device's idle limit (E32).	Yes, at once.
"Die Sitzung hat die Höchstdauer von … Minuten erreicht und wurde beendet (Vorgabe des Geräts). …" (maximum length reached)	The device's maximum session length (E32).	Yes, at once.
"Das Gerät wird heruntergefahren – die Sitzung ist beendet." (device is shutting down)	You chose Herunterfahren (Shut down) (E17).	Once the device is on again.
"Der Zugriff wurde am Gerät abgelehnt oder nicht rechtzeitig bestätigt." (denied or not confirmed in time)	When (re)connecting, nobody agreed at the device.	Yes, with consent at the device.

If the session is only interrupted, BrowserDesk rebuilds it by itself. A spinner above the picture shows the reason and the button Trennen in case you do not want to wait:

"Verbindung unterbrochen – neu verbinden…" (connection interrupted – reconnecting)	Network gone, or the device was restarted on site.
"Gerät startet neu – Verbindung wird wiederhergestellt …" (or "Benutzer wird abgemeldet …", "BrowserDesk startet am Gerät neu …")	You triggered it (E17).
"Relay wird aktualisiert – Verbindung wird wiederhergestellt …" (relay is being updated)	The relay is restarting (H12).
"Relay nicht erreichbar – die Sitzung läuft direkt weiter" (relay unreachable – session continues directly)	No interruption: the session continues directly, only the relay is briefly gone.

Final refusals — wrong password, blocked, no licence, only from its own access — stop the attempts at once with the message instead of retrying forever (D2).

If it does not work

You see	Meaning and fix
"Der Gesteuerte hat die Verbindung beendet. Neu verbinden geht erst, wenn die Verbindung am Gerät wieder zugelassen wird oder 10 Minuten lang kein Versuch mehr kam."	Ask the person at the device to allow you again — or make no attempt for 10 minutes.
The spinner keeps turning	The device cannot be reached. Trennen and reconnect later. If the program then reports Gerät ist offline (Device is offline), Aufwecken (Wake up) may help (D2).
In the browser: "… – bitte erneut verbinden" (please connect again)	The browser gave up after about 2 minutes. Connect again.
