End sessions after idle time or a maximum length
Forgotten remote sessions close by themselves — after a time without input or after a fixed maximum length.

What it is for
A forgotten remote session should not stay open forever. You decide that a session ends when no input has arrived for a while — or at the latest after a fixed maximum length.
What you need
- BrowserDesk from version 20261010.24 on the device. Older versions do not know the settings.
- For the default from the console: administrator of the access.
How to do it
At the device: EinstellungenSicherheit (Settings > Security) → card Zugriffssteuerung (Access control):
- Trennen ohne Eingabe nach (Disconnect without input after) — off, 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes, 1 or 2 hours.
- Höchstdauer einer Sitzung (Maximum session length) — off, 30 minutes, 1, 2, 4 or 8 hours.
Centrally in the console: Devices → open the device → Settings (or, for all devices of the access, its Device settings (tenant)) → section Session and picture:
- Disconnect a session without input after
- Maximum session length
Both are off by default. A default from the console takes precedence; the device then shows "Vom Administrator festgelegt (…) — hier nicht änderbar." (set by the administrator — cannot be changed here).
How you know it worked
One minute before the end the technician gets a notice, for example "Ohne Eingabe endet diese Sitzung in einer Minute (Vorgabe des Geräts: nach … min ohne Eingabe)." (without input this session ends in one minute). Then the session ends with a message.
What the other side sees
The technician sees:
- before the idle end: "Ohne Eingabe endet diese Sitzung in einer Minute …"
- before the maximum length: "Diese Sitzung endet in einer Minute — Höchstdauer … min (Vorgabe des Geräts)." (this session ends in one minute — maximum length)
- at the end: "Die Sitzung wurde nach … Minuten ohne Eingabe beendet (Vorgabe des Geräts). Sie können neu verbinden." (ended after … minutes without input — you can reconnect) or "Die Sitzung hat die Höchstdauer von … Minuten erreicht und wurde beendet (Vorgabe des Geräts). Sie können neu verbinden." (maximum length reached — you can reconnect).
Good to know
- What counts as activity: mouse and keyboard, chat, files, clipboard, menu commands — and a running conversation (E13). What BrowserDesk sends by itself does not count.
- Whoever only watches without any input falls under the idle limit.
- The limits apply per connection. Reconnecting starts the maximum length from the beginning. They are meant to close forgotten sessions, not to lock technicians out.
- Reconnecting works at once — unlike after the person at the device disconnected you. The program does not reconnect by itself, though.
- With Gerät nach der Sitzung sperren (Lock the device after the session) the device is locked after such an end (E31).
If it does not work
