Have the device locked automatically after the session
When a remote session ends, the user session is locked after 5 seconds — whoever sits at the device afterwards needs the password.

What it is for
After an unattended session the user session would stay unlocked — whoever steps up to the device afterwards would be in the user's account. With this setting BrowserDesk locks the device 5 seconds after every remote session ends.
What you need
- BrowserDesk from version 20261010.20 on the device. Older versions do not know the setting.
- For the default from the console: administrator of the access.
How to do it
At the device:
- EinstellungenSicherheit (Settings > Security) → card Zugriffssteuerung (Access control).
- Switch on Gerät nach der Sitzung sperren (Lock the device after the session). It is off by default.
Centrally in the console:
- Devices → open the device → Settings — or, for all devices of the access, its Device settings (tenant).
- Section Access and permissions → set Lock the device after the session to on.
A default from the console takes precedence. The device then shows "Vom Administrator festgelegt (ein) — hier nicht änderbar." (set by the administrator — cannot be changed here).
How you know it worked
After disconnecting, the device shows the lock screen after about 5 seconds.
What the other side sees
The person at the device needs their password to continue working after the session.
Good to know
- No lock when the person at the device disconnects themselves, when the device restarts, signs out or shuts down, or when the technician comes back within the 5 seconds (e.g. after a short network drop).
- It also locks when the session ends through a time limit (E32).
- The 5 seconds are a deliberate gap so that not every network drop locks. If you do not want it, lock by hand at the end: Verwaltung (Management) → Rechner sperren (Lock computer).
- macOS: on newer macOS versions the lock command may be missing; then nothing is locked.
If it does not work
| You see | Meaning and fix |
|---|---|
| The switch at the device cannot be changed | "Vom Administrator festgelegt …" — the console sets the value. |
| The default from the console has no effect | The device runs a version before 20261010.20. Update it. |
| The device stays open after disconnecting | Did the person at the device disconnect themselves? Then it deliberately does not lock. |
