Blank the screen on site and lock mouse and keyboard there
The person in front of the device sees nothing and cannot click in between — you keep seeing and controlling.

What it is for
You work on a device with someone sitting in front of it — and they should not watch (passwords, customer data) or click in between. Then you blank the screen there and lock mouse and keyboard. You yourself keep seeing and controlling.
What you need
- The control right in the session.
- Technician: BrowserDesk on a computer or web access.
- Device: - Windows: Bildschirm schwärzen (Blank screen) needs Windows 10 (2004) or newer. - Linux: Bildschirm schwärzen only works in an X11 session. Eingabe sperren (Lock input) needs read access to the input devices (set up by the input setup). - macOS: from version 20261010.20. Eingabe sperren needs the "Accessibility" permission for BrowserDesk (C5).
How to do it
- Open the menu Verwaltung (Management — lightning icon, the same in the browser) in the session bar.
- Bildschirm schwärzen — the screen at the device turns black.
- Eingabe sperren — mouse and keyboard at the device stop working.
- To undo, choose the same item again. In the program a tick shows what is on.
How you know it worked
- In the program Bildschirm schwärzen or Eingabe sperren has a tick.
- Your picture of the device stays visible.
What the other side sees
- A black screen, or mouse and keyboard that do not react.
- In the small session window, under "DIESER RECHNER" (this computer), the tiles Sperren (Lock) and Privat (Private) show the state (F1).
Good to know
- Both end by themselves when the last connection ends — the device is never left locked or black.
- Only the person in control can blank and lock.
- Not the same as locking the computer: Rechner sperren (Lock computer) in the same menu locks the user session (password needed). Automatically after the session: E31.
- macOS: not yet tested on a Mac.
If it does not work
A greyed-out item names the reason:
