Restart, sign out or shut down the device — and be connected again afterwards
Restart or sign out from within the session; your window waits and reconnects by itself as soon as the device is back.

What it is for
After an update or an installation the device has to restart. You trigger it from the session — and your session window knows that the device is about to go away. It waits and reconnects by itself as soon as the device is back.
What you need
- The control right in the session.
- For the reconnection to succeed without help: BrowserDesk as a service on the device and access without consent (C4) — that is Cloud or an own relay. If every connection has to be confirmed at the device (always with Free), the reconnection only gets through once someone there agrees.
- Technician: BrowserDesk on a computer or web access.
How to do it
- Open the menu Verwaltung (Management) in the session bar.
- Choose an item: - Neustart (Restart) — the computer restarts. - Abmelden (Sign out) — the user is signed out. - Herunterfahren (Shut down) — the computer turns off. - BrowserDesk neu starten (Restart BrowserDesk) — only BrowserDesk on the device restarts, not the computer.
- The confirmation says what happens next. Confirm with Ja (Yes) (for BrowserDesk neu starten: Neu starten (Restart)).
- Wait. Above the picture it says what is going on, for example "Gerät startet neu – Verbindung wird wiederhergestellt …" (device is restarting – connection is being restored). As soon as the device is back, the picture returns.
In the browser: menu Verwaltung → selection "System-Infos / Energie…" (system info / power) → the same item.
How you know it worked
The notice above the picture disappears and you see the device's screen — after a restart or sign-out usually the sign-in screen.
What the other side sees
The computer restarts, signs out or shuts down — like any other restart.
Good to know
- How long your window waits on purpose: 5 minutes after Neustart, 2 minutes after Abmelden and BrowserDesk neu starten. After that it does not give up but says "Gerät meldet sich seit … min nicht zurück – weiter warten oder trennen" (device has not reported back for … min – keep waiting or disconnect).
- After Herunterfahren the session ends: "Das Gerät wird heruntergefahren – die Sitzung ist beendet." (the device is shutting down – the session has ended). There is no reconnection.
- Rechner sperren (Lock computer) does not disconnect — the session continues.
- Reconnecting follows all the rules of the first connection: password, consent at the device, rules of the access.
- If someone restarts the device on site, your window does not know. It still tries to reconnect but shows "Verbindung unterbrochen – neu verbinden…" (connection interrupted – reconnecting); the browser then gives up after about 2 minutes.
- Restart in safe mode: E18.
If it does not work
| You see | Meaning and fix |
|---|---|
| "Gerät meldet sich seit … min nicht zurück – weiter warten oder trennen" | The device takes longer (e.g. updates) or does not come back. Keep waiting or Trennen (Disconnect). |
| The device is back but no picture arrives | Consent is required at the device and nobody is there. Set up access without consent (C4). |
| "Der Gesteuerte hat die Verbindung beendet. …" (the controlled side ended the connection) | The person at the device disconnected you (E30). |
