End the session yourself

What it is for

Someone is connected to your computer and you want to end it — because the help is done or because you do not like something. You can do that at any time with one click. You decide when it is over. Afterwards the helper does not come back in by himself.

What you need

• Your own mouse. The helper cannot press this button for you.
• Nothing else.

How to do it

Windows: in the small window

As long as someone is connected there is a small window. It is at the top right or sits small in the taskbar at the bottom.

1. If the window is small, click it in the taskbar at the bottom. It carries the helper's name.
2. Click the red button Verbindung trennen (Disconnect) at the bottom. If several helpers are connected, it says Alle trennen (Disconnect all). It disconnects all of them at once.

Mac and Linux: in the small card

As long as someone is connected, the BrowserDesk window turns into a small card. Click the red button Verbindung trennen (Disconnect) at the bottom (Alle trennen with several helpers).

In the BrowserDesk window

1. Click Fernzugriff (Remote access) on the left.
2. The card Aktive Verbindungen (Active connections) lists everyone who is connected right now.
3. Click Trennen (Disconnect) next to a name — or Alle trennen at the top.

Via the BrowserDesk icon next to the clock

If BrowserDesk runs without the service, the icon next to the clock has the entry Verbindung trennen during a session. Right-click the icon, then choose the entry.

In Quick Support

If you started Quick Support (F13), click Trennen und beenden (Disconnect and quit). The program then closes completely.

How you know it worked

• The small window or the card is gone.
• Under Fernzugriff the card Aktive Verbindungen lists nobody any more.

What the other side sees

The helper sees the window "Verbindung beendet" (Connection ended) with the sentence "Der Gesteuerte hat die Verbindung beendet." (The controlled side ended the connection.) His program does not try to reconnect.

Good to know

• The helper does not come back by himself. If he tries anyway, he is refused — until you allow him again or until no attempt came for 10 minutes. Every new attempt restarts the 10 minutes.
• Allow again if you do want more help after all: - In the BrowserDesk window under Fernzugriff the card Nach „Trennen“ gesperrt (Blocked after "Disconnect") appears. Click Wieder zulassen (Allow again) there, or Alle zulassen (Allow all). - If BrowserDesk runs as a service: right-click the icon next to the clock → Getrennte Verbindungen wieder zulassen (Allow disconnected connections again).
• Just want a break? Instead of disconnecting you can switch off Steuern (Control) in the small window. Then the helper can only watch (F3).
• The block is aimed at the helper's program. If someone knows the password and deliberately tries again, a new password or switching off "Eingehende Verbindungen zulassen" (Allow incoming connections) helps.
