Let them only watch — do not allow control
The helper should only see, not work with mouse and keyboard? One click in the small session window is enough. This is how you switch it off and on again.

What it is for
Sometimes the helper should only watch: you show him something and you click yourself. Then you switch control off. The helper still sees your screen, but cannot click or type anything.
What you need
- BrowserDesk on your computer (Windows, Mac or Linux).
- A running session — or you set it up beforehand in BrowserDesk (way B).
How to do it
Way A: during the session, in the small window
- Open the small session window. On Windows it sits in the taskbar at the bottom after 5 seconds — click it there.
- Under "DER BETRACHTER DARF" (the viewer may), click the tile Steuern (Control).
- The tile is no longer highlighted, and the top says Nur Ansicht (view only).
In the same way you switch off Ablage (Clipboard — copy and paste) and Datei (File — transferring files).
To allow it again: click Steuern once more.
Way B: in BrowserDesk, for all sessions
- Open BrowserDesk.
- Choose EinstellungenSicherheit (Settings > Security). (The same card is also on the left under Fernzugriff — Remote access.)
- In the card Interaktion & Berechtigungen (Interaction & permissions), switch off Steuerung erlauben (Allow control).
Next to it are Zwischenablage synchronisieren (Synchronise clipboard) and Dateiübertragung erlauben (Allow file transfer) — you can switch those off as well.
How you know it worked
- The top of the small window says Nur Ansicht.
- The tile Steuern is no longer highlighted.
What the other side sees
- The helper still sees your screen.
- The top of his window says "Nur Ansicht — nicht steuerbar" (view only — cannot be controlled). He also gets a sentence saying why: "Steuerung erlauben" is switched off on the device.
- Whatever he clicks or types does not reach you.
Good to know
- It takes effect immediately, even in the middle of the session.
- The helper cannot switch it back on himself. He cannot operate the small window.
- If your company has set this in its administration, its setting applies. Ask there.
- Sperren (Lock) is something else: this tile under "DIESER RECHNER" (this computer) locks mouse and keyboard on your computer — not at the helper's end.
- You do not want a session at all? Then click Ablehnen (Deny) when asked Zugriff erlauben? (Allow access?) (F1).
If it does not work
| You see | What it means |
|---|---|
| The helper says "I cannot click anything" — but you wanted to allow it | Steuern is still off, maybe from an earlier session. Click Steuern in the small window, or switch on EinstellungenSicherheit → Steuerung erlauben. |
| The small window cannot be seen | It is in the taskbar at the bottom. Or use way B. |
