I see the picture, but clicks do not arrive

What it is for

The device's picture is there, but your clicks and keys do not arrive. Almost always an orange badge "Nur Ansicht" (view only) or "Nur Ansicht — nicht steuerbar" (view only — not controllable) then appears at the top of the session window, and BrowserDesk says why. Go through the steps in order.

What you need

• A running session to the device.
• For some remedies: the person at the device or the administrator of your access.
• The exact reason comes from BrowserDesk on the device from version 20261011.18. Older devices say nothing about it.

How to do it

1. Does the top say "Nur Ansicht" (without addition)? Then another viewer is currently in control. Menu Steuerung (Control) → Steuerung anfragen (Request control); the other one must agree (E28). In the browser the status line says "Nur Ansicht — ein anderer Viewer steuert" (view only — another viewer is in control).
2. Does the top say "Nur Ansicht — nicht steuerbar"? Read the reason — it appears as a message and in the badge when you point at it with the mouse. Steuerung anfragen is then missing from the menu, because a request does not help here. - "Am Gerät ist „Steuerung erlauben“ ausgeschaltet — …" (Allow control is switched off on the device): the person at the device has switched control off, or the administration prescribes it. It can be switched on in three places: - in the small session window on the device, the tile Steuern (Control) (F3), - on the device Einstellungen › Sicherheit (Settings > Security) → card Interaktion & Berechtigungen (Interaction & permissions) → Steuerung erlauben (Allow control), - in the console: Devices → open the device → Settings → section Access and permissions → Allow control (otherwise view only). A default from the console takes precedence over the device.

The sentence mentions "Gerät → Einstellungen → Fernsteuerung" (device → settings → remote control) — in the console the section is called Access and permissions. As soon as the permission is back, the badge disappears by itself. - "Die Steuerung ist für diese Sitzung am Gerät nicht freigegeben …" (control is not approved for this session): the consent for this session has expired or been withdrawn. Disconnect and reconnect; the person at the device agrees again (F1). - "iPhone und iPad lassen sich nicht fernsteuern …" or "Android-Geräte lassen sich mit BrowserDesk noch nicht fernsteuern. …" (phones cannot be remote-controlled): with phones you only watch. The person at the device operates it.

1. No badge, but still nothing arrives? - Drawing mode on? Then your mouse only draws. In the bar Wieder steuern (Zeichnen aus) (control again, drawing off) (E14). - Control room: a small tile takes no input. Click into the tile so it becomes large (D8). - Mac as device: if "Auf diesem Mac ist „Bedienungshilfen“ für BrowserDesk nicht erteilt …" (Accessibility is not granted) appears, a permission is missing there (H2). - Windows, window with administrator rights: if "Fenster mit Administratorrechten im Vordergrund – die Steuerung braucht den BrowserDesk-Dienst auf dem Gerät." (window with administrator rights in front — control needs the BrowserDesk service on the device) appears, the window you want to operate was started "as administrator". Without the BrowserDesk service Windows accepts no input from outside there. Set up the service (C4) or ask the person at the device to operate the window. - UAC dialog or lock screen: see H1 and H17.
2. Older BrowserDesk on the device? Before 20261011.18 the device does not report switched-off control — you then see no badge, only clicks into nowhere. Update BrowserDesk on the device (H11) or check the three places from step 2 directly.

How you know it worked

The "Nur Ansicht" badge is gone, and clicks and keys take effect on the device.

What the other side sees

The person at the device sees in the small session window whether the tile Steuern (Control) is switched on. If Nur Ansicht (view only) appears at the top there, the viewer can only watch.

Good to know

• The Steuern tile stays saved. Whoever switches it off at the device also gets view only in the next session — until someone switches it back on (F3).
• Control is a right of the device, not of the viewer. A viewer cannot give it to themselves.
• In the browser the same applies: the badge shows the same text, the reason appears once in the status line.
