Clicks land next to the spot
The pointer jumps away or a click hits the wrong thing — usually in a program running "as administrator" on a Windows device with enlarged display scaling. What helps.

What it is for
You click a button, but on the device the click misses, or the pointer jumps away when clicking. This fault occurred on Windows devices in programs running "as administrator" — for example after a User Account Control prompt — when the display on the device is enlarged (for example 125 % or 150 %). It has been fixed since version 20261005.1. Here is how to check.
What you need
- A Windows device with the BrowserDesk service. Without the service, windows with administrator rights cannot be controlled at all (H3).
- For the update: the person at the device or the administrator of your access.
How to do it
- Does it only happen in a particular window? Programs running "as administrator" receive your input through a separate path. If it works in other windows, it is this path — continue with step 2.
- Check the version on the device. On the device the version is shown at the bottom left of the BrowserDesk window ("v …") and under EinstellungenAllgemein (Settings > General) at "Installiert ist …" (installed is …). In the console it is in the device list. - Older than 20261005.1: update BrowserDesk on the device (H11). Only then do clicks hit in such windows with enlarged display. - Older than 20261005.2: over such windows the pointer only changes its shape after a click (for example to the text cursor). The update fixes that too.
- Does it stutter after a UAC dialog with sign-in? Up to 20261005.1 the session then ran jerkily until you reconnected. Disconnect and reconnect once; the update helps permanently.
How you know it worked
The pointer stays in place when clicking, and the click hits the button you pointed at.
What the other side sees
The person at the device sees the pointer where you move it.
Good to know
- Typing is not affected — keys carry no position. If typing worked for you but clicking did not, it was exactly this fault.
- Several monitors with different scaling are the hardest case. If clicks still miss there, report it with logs.
- Mac as device: there BrowserDesk converts the Retina resolution; in testing, clicks in the middle and in the corners hit exactly.
If it does not work
| You see | Meaning and remedy |
|---|---|
| "Fenster mit Administratorrechten im Vordergrund – die Steuerung braucht den BrowserDesk-Dienst auf dem Gerät." (window with administrator rights in front — control needs the BrowserDesk service) | The service is missing on the device (C4). |
| Clicks do not arrive at all | See H3. |
| Still off target with a current version | Collect logs (H19) and write to info@browserdesk.de with the device ID, the time, the name of the program and the scaling on the device. |
