Collect files the person at the device has put out for you (drop ring)
The person at the Windows device drags files onto a round drop ring; you download them under "Bereitgestellte Dateien" (files provided).

What it is for
The person at the device has a file you need — a photo, a log, a document. Instead of searching for it in the file manager, you show the drop ring on the device. The person drags the file onto it, and you download it on your side.
What you need
- Controlled system: Windows. The drop ring only exists there.
- File transfer must be allowed at the device (E8). You do not need control — someone who only watches may collect files too.
- Viewer: the program or the browser.
How to do it
On your side
- In the bar Dateien (Files) → Ablage-Ring einblenden (show drop ring).
- Wait until the person has dropped the files. The program then shows the number of files next to Bereitgestellte Dateien (files provided); the browser shows a number on the menu item.
- Open Dateien → Bereitgestellte Dateien.
- Program: per file Herunterladen (download) — or Alle laden (load all). At the top, "Ziel: …" (target) shows where the files go (your Downloads folder). With Neue Dateien automatisch laden (load new files automatically) the program fetches every further file by itself. Browser: Zielordner… (target folder …) sets where the files go; then Alles herunterladen (download all). Auto-Download downloads new files by itself.
- Afterwards: Dateien → Ablage-Ring ausblenden (hide drop ring).
At the device
- A round ring with "Dateien hierher ziehen" (drag files here) appears on the screen.
- Drag the file onto the ring from Explorer or the desktop and let go.
- The ring lights up briefly and counts the files provided.
You can also drag the file onto the ring for the person — through the session, as with your own mouse.
How you know it worked
- The file is listed under Bereitgestellte Dateien.
- After downloading, the program reports "Datei geladen: …" (file loaded) with the location.
What the other side sees
The ring, as long as you show it. It disappears when you hide it or when the last viewer leaves the session.
Good to know
- The ring does not appear by itself — you show it when needed.
- Only what was dropped can be downloaded. You see nothing else of the file system.
- Remove from the list: in the program Aus der Freigabe entfernen (remove from sharing) next to the file.
- Log: every file provided is recorded with name and size in the relay's log.
- The same limits apply as when fetching in the file manager: at most 500 MB per file (E8).
If it does not work
| You see | Meaning and fix |
|---|---|
| "Den Ablage-Ring gibt es bisher nur unter Windows." (only on Windows so far) | The device is a Mac or Linux computer. Fetch the file in the file manager (E8). |
| "Dateiübertragung ist am Host aus." (file transfer is off on the host) | File transfer is switched off at the device — in the settings or via the "Datei" switch in the session window. |
| The list stays empty | The file was not let go on the ring, or it is empty (0 bytes). |
