The trackpad does not scroll
The device scrolls with the mouse, but not with two fingers on the laptop trackpad. Why that is and what helps.

What it is for
On the laptop you scroll with two fingers on the trackpad — but nothing moves on the device. With a mouse you never notice, because mouse wheel and trackpad report to the program in two different ways. Since version 20260923.1 the BrowserDesk program understands both.
What you need
- The BrowserDesk program on the laptop (Windows, Linux or Mac) as viewer.
- A session with control (H3).
How to do it
- Mouse or trackpad? If the device scrolls with a mouse wheel but not with the trackpad, this is exactly the case. If nothing scrolls at all, it is not the trackpad — then see H3.
- Is the pointer over the bar? Over the session bar no gesture takes effect on the device. Move the pointer into the picture and swipe again.
- Check your program's version. It is shown at the bottom left of the BrowserDesk window ("v …") and under EinstellungenAllgemein (Settings > General) at "Installiert ist …" (installed is …). If it is older than 20260923.1, update: Update prüfen (check for update) and then install the new version (H11).
- Do not confuse it with Trackpad-Modus (trackpad mode). That item in the menu Steuerung (Control) is for touchscreens, phones and tablets. With a laptop trackpad it does nothing.
- Until then: drag the scroll bar in the window on the device with the pointer.
How you know it worked
The content on the device scrolls along with your fingers — vertically and horizontally.
What the other side sees
The person at the device sees the window scroll as with a mouse wheel.
Good to know
- Tested on a Windows laptop. On Linux the path is confirmed from the source code but not measured on a device; on the Mac as viewer it is not tested.
- Zooming with two fingers has no effect in the program — only scrolling (E7).
- Half a scroll step at the end of a movement is dropped; the picture does not jump after.
If it does not work
| You see | Meaning and remedy |
|---|---|
| Only the mouse scrolls, current version | Pointer not over the bar? Then report it (last row). |
| The direction is reversed | Report it with your system and the scroll direction setting (last row). |
| No input arrives at all | See H3. |
| None of this helps | Collect logs (H19) and write to info@browserdesk.de with your system, laptop model, version and the time. |
