Share your phone's screen

What it is for

Something on your phone or tablet does not work and a helper should take a look. With the BrowserDesk app you share your screen. The helper then sees what you see. He cannot control your phone — you have to tap and swipe yourself.

What you need

• The BrowserDesk app on the phone or tablet (C1). - Android: from BrowserDesk version 20261010.38. - iPhone and iPad.
• Internet.
• A helper you know.

How to do it

Android

1. Open the BrowserDesk app. Tap Einstellungen (Settings) at the bottom.
2. Under Meinen Bildschirm teilen (Share my screen) switch on Für Support freigeben (Share for support).
3. Android asks whether BrowserDesk may record your screen. Depending on your Android you can choose the whole screen or just one app. Confirm.
4. Now the ID (Kennung) and password (Passwort) are shown. Give both to the helper.
5. As soon as the first picture is on its way it says "Die Bildschirmfreigabe läuft." (Screen sharing is running.)

iPhone and iPad

1. Open the BrowserDesk app. Tap Einstellungen (Settings) at the bottom.
2. Under Meinen Bildschirm teilen switch on Für Support freigeben.
3. Now the ID and password are shown. Give both to the helper.
4. Tap Übertragung starten (Start broadcast). The iPhone shows its own choice. Start the broadcast there.
5. Once it runs, the app says "Die Bildschirmübertragung läuft." (Screen broadcast is running.)

Stop

• Android: switch Für Support freigeben off again. Or tap Stop in the notification "BrowserDesk teilt deinen Bildschirm" (BrowserDesk is sharing your screen).
• iPhone and iPad: tap the red bar at the top and stop the broadcast. Or use the Control Center.

How you know it worked

• The app says "Die Bildschirmfreigabe läuft." (Android) or "Die Bildschirmübertragung läuft." (iPhone).
• The helper tells you he can see your screen.

What the other side sees

The helper sees your screen. He cannot tap, copy anything or fetch files. With an Android device his window says "Nur Ansicht" (view only).

Good to know

• The helper sees everything on the screen. Close beforehand what he should not see.
• It keeps running when you switch apps. On the iPhone even when you put it down or lock it. Only you can stop it.
• Sharing and allowing are the same thing. No second question asks whether someone may watch. Whoever knows the ID and password watches while you share. Only give both to your helper.
• Some apps stay black, banking apps or password fields, for example. Your phone does that; it is not a fault.
• Sharing can never be switched on from outside. Only you can do that on the phone.
• If the app is signed in to an access, you can add the phone there: at the bottom Mandant (tenant — the app's word for the access) → Dieses Gerät hinzufügen (Add this device). This takes one place in the access and applies the next time you switch on Für Support freigeben.
