What it is for
The console quickly fills with hundreds of devices. So that you do not have to scroll, there are three ways: the "Find anything" search (Ctrl+K), the search and filters of the Devices view, and the tree on the left with your accesses and tags. A click on the device you found opens its details.
What you need
- A sign-in to the console (B1). Every role may search.
- You only see devices of the accesses your account is enabled for. In the console an access is called tenant.
How to do it
Way 1: "Find anything" with Ctrl+K
- Press Ctrl+K (Mac: ⌘+K), outside an input field also / — or click into the field Find anything … at the top.
- Type two or more characters: device name, computer name, signed-in user, domain, operating system or an IP address.
- Click a device in the devices group or open it with Enter — it opens with its details.
- If more devices match, the entry "Show all devices matching “…”" shows the whole result in the device list.
The results also contain actions if your role allows them — for example "Connect to “…”" or "Run script on “…” …" (technician role and up). With an empty input the search shows what you Recently opened.
Way 2: The device list
- Open Devices in the sidebar. At the top it says All devices with the number.
- Type into Search… at the top right. The list only shows matching devices.
- Narrow it down with the buttons All, Online, Offline and Blocked.
- For exact filters per column switch on the funnel icon (Toggle column filters). With Choose columns you show or hide columns, for example the column Licence.
- Via More the list can be grouped by Tenant, Platform, Version or Status (Group by). A setup you need more often is kept with Save current view and brought back later under Saved view.
Way 3: The tree on the left
- On the left you see Tenants & tags. A click on an access shows only its devices, a click on a tag only the devices with that tag. All devices clears the selection.
- With many accesses the field Filter tree… helps.
What you can do with the device you found
A right click on a row opens the device's menu:
| Group | Contains |
|---|---|
| Access (online only) | Connect, Remote console; when offline Wake up (Wake-on-LAN) instead |
| Run & deploy | Run script…, Deploy software…, Start workflow…, Assign workflows… (G6, G7, G8) |
| Manage | Details, Edit, Move to tenant…, Assign version…, Enable console / Disable console (G11), Lock updates / Unlock updates (G5) |
| Security | Mark as critical — actions need four-eyes approval / Remove critical mark, Revoke device certificate, Block or Unblock |
| — | Delete — removes the device from the list and frees its seat (C7) |
If you tick several devices with the boxes on the left, the entries apply to all ticked devices. The ⋮ icon at the top right (Select devices first, then batch actions) offers the same batch actions.
How you know it worked
- The device is in the list, or its details are open (name at the top, on the left Overview, Settings, Inventory and further tabs).
- The number above the list shows how many devices match the search.
Good to know
- IP addresses: The search finds the addresses the device reported for its network adapters and its public address. The address of the current connection is in the details under Overview.
- The search ignores upper and lower case and umlaut differences. Common words count as the same, for example "customer", "access" and "tenant" or "computer" and "device".
- The results only show what your role may see. Only the relay's system administrator finds console accounts.
- Download the entire filtered result set as CSV (download icon) saves the filtered list as a table, Print (preview) prints it.
- Only your browser remembers what you searched for last.
If it does not work
| You see | Meaning and remedy |
|---|---|
| The device is missing from the list | Check whether a filter is still active: empty the field Search…, choose All, click All devices in the tree. If it is still missing, it does not belong to one of your accesses — or it has not been added to an access yet (C2). |
| "Find anything" shows no devices | For devices the search needs at least two characters. Without a match there is no devices group. |
| Connect is missing from the menu | The device is offline or blocked. Offline devices can be woken with Wake up (Wake-on-LAN) if a neighbour device in the same network is online. |
| A menu entry reports an error when clicked | The menu shows many entries regardless of your role; only the server checks whether you may. What each role may do is in B1. |
