Adapt the device's resolution to my window
If the device runs at a tiny or unsuitable resolution, change it for the duration of the session — the old one comes back at the end.

What it is for
Virtual machines and computers without a monitor often run at 1024 × 768 or at a resolution that does not suit your window — the picture is tiny or blurry. You can change the device's resolution for the session. It is a temporary change: when the session ends, BrowserDesk restores the old resolution.
What you need
- Controlled system: Windows. It does not work on Mac and Linux devices yet.
- Viewer: the BrowserDesk program. The browser viewer does not have this item.
- You must be in control. Someone who only watches does not see the item.
- BrowserDesk version 20261010.27 or later on the device.
How to do it
- In the bar click Ansicht (View), then Auflösung am Gerät … (Resolution on the device …).
- The dialog Auflösung am Gerät lists the resolutions the screen offers, largest first. The original one is marked Original, the largest one that fits completely into your window passt in Ihr Fenster (fits your window).
- Click a resolution — or An mein Fenster anpassen (Fit to my window).
- Close the dialog with Schließen (Close).
Back to the old resolution: Ansicht → Auflösung am Gerät … → Zurück auf Original (Back to original). Otherwise this happens by itself (see below).
How you know it worked
- The picture rebuilds briefly and shows the screen at the new resolution.
- If you open the dialog again, it shows the button Zurück auf Original — it only appears while the resolution is changed.
What the other side sees
The screen at the device visibly changes its resolution. Windows and text there change size until the session ends.
Good to know
- The old resolution comes back when the last viewer leaves the session, on Zurück auf Original and when you switch to another monitor (E1). If BrowserDesk on the device ends unexpectedly before that, it restores the resolution at its next start.
- Only one screen at a time is changed. If you switch monitors, the previous one goes back.
- Nothing is stored permanently: the setting does not end up in the Windows configuration.
- Scaling stays: if the device is set to 150 %, for example, text looks large at a small resolution. That is a Windows setting.
- Without a monitor Windows often offers only 1024 × 768. The virtual monitor helps there (E25).
- Every change is recorded in the relay's log.
If it does not work
| You see | Meaning and fix |
|---|---|
| Auflösung am Gerät … is missing from the menu | The device is not a Windows device, runs an older BrowserDesk version, or you are not in control right now. |
| "Die Auflösung lässt sich nur an Windows-Geräten umstellen." (only on Windows devices) | Mac and Linux cannot do it yet. |
| "Nur wer steuert, kann die Auflösung des Geräts umstellen." (only whoever is in control) | Another viewer is in control. Request control or have it handed over. |
| "In der Kachelansicht lässt sich die Auflösung nicht umstellen." (not in the tile view) | It does not work from the control room (D8). Open the device in its own session. |
| "Diese Auflösung bietet der Bildschirm des Geräts nicht an." (not offered by the screen) | Choose another resolution from the list. |
| "Windows hat die Auflösung abgelehnt (Code …)" (Windows refused) | Windows refused the change, for example at the sign-in screen. Whether it works there has not been tested. |
